Label My Food

Would you buy battery farmed eggs from a shop or supermarket?
Probably not.

Yet restaurants and cafes use battery-farmed eggs every day in cakes, mayonnaise, fresh pasta, and many more dishes, without telling you. If they were labelled ‘made with battery-farmed eggs’ would you still want to eat them?

If you care about what goes into your food and where it comes from then Label My Food needs you.

Label My Food is an exciting new campaign encouraging restaurants, pubs, cafes and all other food outlets to dramatically improve the information they provide to customers on their menus.

Whether it is animal welfare, the environment, a food allergy, your religion or just a general interest in food that motivates you, please show your support.

5 out of 5 stars Simply the best in the category!   January 5, 2009
I've had bread makers before and I must say I was already pleased. All top brands and worked just fine. However, this one is really on top of it, it's very simple and always makes great bread.

And I highly recommend this model with the nut/raisins dispenser. It's very useful as you can program the machine to make a seeded bread for the next day (on the ordinary one you can also program, but the seeds/nuts/raisins will be in contact with the rest of the ingredients all night long, ruining its freshness).

5 out of 5 stars Very pleased....   December 29, 2008
I received this bread maker a week ago and so far have baked 4 loaves, three white and one wholemeal and have made dough and baked small french bagettes in the oven.

I absoloutly love fresh bread and have found this breadmaker easy to use and my first attempt, although a little uneven, tasted great. My advice is take the loaf tin out the machine, add the ingrediants as specified by the recipe, shake the ingrediants slightly before placing the tin back in the machine to level the ingrdients before baking, this seems to help.

I must admit I haven't used the nut dispenser yet, but am looking forward to futhur experimentation. Watch this space.

Have considered a Bread maker for a long time but thought it would end up like the food processor, Zyliss et al in the bottom of the cupboard ~ a once seemingly good idea. We bought the Panasonic SD 255 on a friend's recommendation. We have tried every variation of bread mixes from Tesco to Asda, to Wrights to Hovis. Every loaf is usually eaten in one sitting because the bread/crust/colour/warmth/smell/ is so inviting, and the bread taste, texture and consistency is always excellent. Instructions are as easy as pie! Looks quite attractive in the kitchen and isn't particularly energy inefficient. No problems releasing the bread from the tin/paddle providing you allow both the loaf and the tin to cool together on the wire rack before attempting removal.
I concur with many other reviewers who say it's the best/most useful gadget.

After owning a variety of breadmakers over the years, I can finally say the search for the holy grail is over. This is the breadmaker to purchase. Don't hesitate, just take the plunge. The bread is as good if not better than that of the local bakery. Crusty white bread is a doddle , the raisin bread is divine toasted and the wholemeal is a revelation. I bought Lakeland Plastics bread improver to add to the mix and the result is quite simply a perfect and light loaf. Gone are the days of the homemade wholemeal doubling up as a door stop. I am delighted with the panasonic SD255.

Once I made this purchase i've rarely bought shop bread again. The panasonic is an excellent bread maker, and so simple to use. the recipe book has lots of variations of breads, the nut dispenser makes it handy so you dont need to come back to it once you've started. the timer feature is a life saver as you can set it up at night time and have your fresh bread ready in the morning.
highly recommended!
