 Proven:the modern day phenomena of style's victory over substance. January 7, 2009
Blinded by the positive reviews,the product seemed classy among other things and I bought the Roxio software. It took ages to load on my new system although this was not a problem for me but from the outset I could not get it to function, among other things but specifically a `R6025 function call error'. Over the next few weeks all Roxio customer services could do was to send me frustrating 3-day time-delayed reply emails, yes they are apparently on another planet, divulging information to me that was instantly available on the net and in forums. I confess, I admittedly chose to suffer through this as at the start of my concerns I was not moved to call their 1 per minute telephone helpline not knowing how many minutes that would take! Anyway after despatching a couple brusque emails via their `ticketing' system Customer Services and Technical Department's feathers' were apparently really ruffled and the reply was now very hasty: 2 days, but alas, only to send me a customer assistance telephone number in the United States and even more unhelpful information, which I had already discovered and attempted, to unsuccessfully fix the now apparently inherent Roxio Creator 2009 bug. Probably because of my double-barrelled ticket confusing their systems a further email fix email arrived (almost certainly from the Technical Department) offering a comprehensive fix but by then it was too late - I had installed and successfully used a competitors product; which I found very intuitive and easy to use and had despatched the Roxio product, to the very understanding Amazon, for a refund. Some advice to Roxio: 1. only despatch bug free software to the public in the future, 2. do not expect customers without IT Doctorates to execute elaborate bug fixes and 3. Don't take 2-plus weeks to resolve customer queries.
Advice to buyers:Beware!!!
Not Yet a Mature Product January 5, 2009
I am a first time user of Video Editing and Authoring software and purchased this product on the basis of its easy to use credentials. I would recommend anybody thinking of purchasing this software to first look at the problems people are getting on the support website for Roxio.
The installation takes a long time and there seems to be a fault with the DVD which causes the install to hang. After repeated attempts the software was finally installed but the main Roxio dashboard will not launch and I can only use the component tools separately.
I have given this product 2 stars because the component software tools do work but the package does not hang together well and support is non existent.

When buying this product take note of the reviews that have mentioned the installation problems. I have known nothing like it.
The software takes an AGE to install (I am talking up to an hour) upon the innitial installation. Then because things are not working quite right you would think that if I un-install and re-install it might work correctly - THINK AGAIN! Because than the software will not install at all. Although the software is on the computer - nothing works!
All I can say it that this product is a piece of rubbish!
 Multi purpose and very useful December 28, 2008
I had been try for a while (albeit not very hard) to find a way to burn a DVD from an .avi file but to no avail. I had tried a couple of programs off the internet but each time it would take 2 or so hours and copy nothing to the disc. So when I used this software I was very impressed that it burnt the DVD in my first attempt and took 90mins. I know that sounds like a long time but it actually wasn't bad because I was using the computer at the same time so the program was just running in the background.
The software is pretty intuitive to use. I am not hugely skilled on music programs but I managed to edit a tune that I wanted into a shorter clip so that I could then transfer it to my phone and use it as a ring tone. This was really easy (easier than using SoundForge in my opinion).
I feel like I've just scratched the tip of the iceberg using these two features but these were enough to impress me, amongst all the other photo-editing and CD burning/ripping etc.
Guess the down-side for people very short on space could be the 1.5G space it takes up on the hard drive, but then if you're going to be saving lots of music/picture things I would imagine you'd have a reasonable amount of space free to be able to do that.
I think this is a really decent priced buy for the average computer user who just wants all this editing stuff in one place in an easy to use program. There are many programs that could do all this stuff, but for somebody who just wants it done quickly and easily, this will definitely be a good choice.

Unfortunately, this product has not worked for me. I think, perhaps, this is not a product for a novice user. It seemed reluctant to accept photographs from my Panasonic camera and there is not enough information available with the program to help me overcome the difficulties I have found with it.
