 Surprisingly easy scrapbooking and photo editiing. January 6, 2009
When I chose this software, I was a little nervous as I am rather technologically challenged and I have no experience of using programmes such as this.
I do, however, have a creative side, and a friend of mine who is a graphic designer has previously shown me some gorgeous designs she has created in the form of online scrapbooks. The software provided in this package more than covers the sort of things the professionals can do, and can give them a run for their money too.
You can edit the photos you're using, and add all sorts of effects. You can make it look really authentic by adding shadows and "tearing" the "paper" of the pages. You can even scan in and add real artefacts, so for example if I was creating a beach trip page and wanted to scan in a stick of rock or a shell I'd found and add it to the page, I could do so.
It is easy to install and to get the hang of the software, even for someone who is a little intimidated by such things. It's a lot of fun, whatever age you are. Also, as another reviewer has said, you can use the designs for anything; they'd make great greetings cards too.

not really keen on scrapbook things or making some decorative designs so i decided to give it give it to my sister who is a teacher. and she loves using this software. the idea is limitless as what she said. somehow all relavant designs she can easily grab and use that even her student and some collegues where impress by her teaching strategies using this material.

With its adaptable themes, fonts and picture editing options you will never run out of new ideas to help bring your scrap book to life.
Powerful Art Software December 18, 2008
When I ordered this software I wasn't sure if it was what I thought. I am so pleased with it though. The effects that can be layered are amazing. It is very easy to use, very versatile and has the ability to save in PDF format so that your scrapbook can be very easily shared via the internet.
My favourite feature is stitches, they are so realistic. There is a bonus disk with lots of artwork samples and templates. I totally recommend this for everyone.

Serif has long been providing quality but affordable software and Digital Scrapbook Artist (DSA) is no exception.
This software is beautifully packaged. The box itself is a joy to look at with several samples of what you could create using the program. There's an easy-to-follow manual in glorious colour as well as a booklet (also in colour) illustrating the images contained in the Digikit Collection 1 DVD that's thrown in for good measure.
Did I say the manual was easy to follow? Well, to be honest you don't even need it. If you have ever used any of the countless greeting card-making programs that are available, or if you are familiar with other Serif products, you'll feel instantly at home with DSA. Even though it's targeted at "scrabookists", the program can also be used to create all manner of printed materials like greeting cards, posters and so on.
To create your masterpiece, you choose a template (or start from a blank page), drag and drop items, add in some text, apply a few effects and you're done. If you want to, you could even scan actual fabrics to add more realism to your digital scrapbooks.
My only grumble is that DSA took a long time to install (but maybe this is because of large amount of images it copies onto your hard drive) and it can also be slow to run. But these are minor complaints - kids and adults alike will have lots of creative fun with this software.
